1940's and 1950's camera advertisements to assist my Oral Presentaion:
Do you think the ubiquitousness of photography in the twentieth century forced other art forms to become more about the process and concept and less about depictions of reality?
Bauhaus designers used industrial techniques when creating home wares like tea sets, Espresso machines, chairs, stools, utensils, lamps, etc. The Atomic Espresso Machine design and brand dates back to 1936, in-between the two world wars which is also when Bauhaus was created. The Bauhaus designers were also the first to mix materials in construction for example mixing fabric and steel together in one piece of furniture.
All these things that I have photographed I found around my mother's house, she is an interior designer and loves the Bauhaus movement; she often buys objects and furniture that have been inspired by the aesthetics of Bauhaus. Image one and two is of my little brother's chair that mum found at revolve, even though the chair's legs are made of wood (the Bauhaus designers made everything from steel, they didn't much like wood as they believed that steel represented the future) the shape of the legs are inspired by the Bauhaus movement. The red lamp is constructed of steel and is strongly influenced by Bauhaus as is the steel tea towel rail, both these items are bought from Ikea.
Photograph six is taken of the corner of the lounge, attached to the lounge is a fold out table made of wood and steel also the foot of the couch is also made of steel. I believe that if there was no Bauhaus then the foot of the couch and the whole of the table would have just been made from wood and not steel.
